A stewardship report is the annual review a broker gives a client before renewal: the coverage in place, how the year went, the work the broker did, and what comes next.

## The structure, section by section

1. **The year in one line.** The most important result of the year, such as claims handled, savings found, or coverage gaps closed.
2. **Coverage in place.** Each line of coverage with its carrier, limits, deductibles, premium and expiration date.
3. **Claims and loss trends.** Claims activity for the year and the trend behind it, with the large ones called out.
4. **What we did this year.** The service delivered: claims advocacy, compliance support, employee education, market checks.
5. **Compensation.** How the broker is paid on each line, stated plainly.
6. **Looking ahead.** The market outlook for the renewal, the risks to watch, and the plan.
7. **Next step.** The renewal timeline and the first meeting to book.

## What the good ones do

- Deliver it well before renewal, so it opens the renewal conversation instead of arriving with the quote.
- Put the client’s results first and the broker’s activities second.
- Make every number traceable to a policy or a claim.
- Keep it short enough to forward. The person who signs the renewal may never meet you.
